Today I thought I'd share a recipe handed down to me by my mother. She used to make this when I was but a wee tot...I am now making it for my own little ones who enjoy it immensely! The smell of cinnamon in the air will make the wait tough for this decadent treat!!!
First gather your ingredients:
1-1/2 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
1/2 c shortening
2 beaten eggs (check out those pretty homegrown eggs!)
4 c flour
4 t baking powder
1 t salt
1 box vanilla instant pudding
1 box vanilla instant pudding
1-1/2 c milk
Filling:
2 c sugar
1/4 c cinnamon
1/2 c flour
3/4 c melted butter
In a large bowl, mix together dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add egg.
Alternately add dry ingredients with milk.
Place half the batter in a greased 13 x 9 baking dish. In a small bowl, combine ingredients for filling. Sprinkle with half the filling mixture.
Top with the remaining batter.
Top with remaining filling for a crumb topping.
Bake at 325 for 45 minutes. Remove when toothpick comes out clean.
The finished product!
YUMMY!
Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteI made this and brought it to a morning shower today, and came home with an empty pan. I only had a sliver of a piece, but it sure was yummy!
